In our previous blog we shared three approaches we can utilise to help us stay alert and energised after experiencing disrupted sleep.
Did you get an opportunity to practice any of them?
If you did what was your experience like?
There are many methods and solutions we can employ to provide us with a boost of energy after having poor sleep.
Here are three more ways to help you stay alert and energised throughout your day:
- Get Outdoors. Stepping out into daylight helps our brain and body to produce certain hormones that will assist us to stay alert and energised during the day, as well as to support our sleep at night. Aim to spend a minimum of 45 minutes outdoors and look up at the sky to let natural light enter in through your eyes. This is really beneficial if you spend most of your day staring at computer or phone screens.
- Move Your Body. Easy and natural movements are best, such as walking, stretching or simple mobility exercises that gently raise your energy levels. For best results, plan to do an exercise routine or consciously move your body in the morning or afternoon.
- Take A Nap or Meditate. There are times where you may find that your sleep has been severely disrupted and the option to take a nap is essential. Medical research has shown that by having a 10 or 20 minute power nap or doing a silent meditation in the early part of the afternoon provides deep rest for the brain and body and helps us feel alert, refreshed and energised.
Which of these will you practice?
